Vineyard profileA family winery in the heart of Gratallops. Clos Figueras has a spectacular vineyard, with the classic “llicorella” soil, in one piece, just to the north of the famed town of Gratallops, overlooking the Montsant river valley. The property was purchased in October 1997 by Charlotte and Christopher Cannan on the recommendation of Réné Barbier, owner of the famous Clos Mogador estate and founder of the “new wave” movement in Priorat during the late 1980’s.
The base for this Vermut comes from Grenache Noir and Carignan grown outside of Barcelona in Montsant. The wine is then infused with aromatic plants from the surrounding mountainside. Intense nose, with hints of spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon, there are also aromas of orange peel and pleasant notes of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean such as thyme, fennel, and rosemary. In the mouth, it is not excessively sweet and has a good acidity.
