Fuligni, Tuscany (Montalcino)

"The purity and focus of the wines are spellbinding!"James Suckling
"Exciting and lean and lively. Racy!"Jancis Robinson

The Fuligni viscounts came from an ancient Venetian family of condottieri and generals who moved to Tuscany around 1770. Even then, wine was made on their properties in Maremma and Scansano. Their Montalcino estate was founded in 1923 and the present owner is the exquisite Maria Flora Fuligni, who works side by side with nephew Roberto Guerrini Fuligni, enologist Paolo Vagaggini and agronomist Federico Ricci, who is in charge of vineyard management.

The Fuligni Estate spreads over approximately one hundred fully-cultivated hectares of land in an almost continual strip on the eastern side of Montalcino where, historically, the most authentic production of Brunello emerged. The vines, which extend over ten hectares, are primarily located at Cottimelli, at altitudes varying from 380 to 450 meters above sea level.

Fuligni’s wines are among the most 'aristocratic' in style from Montalcino, tight and linear when youthful, and immensely fine and elegant with bottle age.
